I know that running [volunteering for] a road race is potentially hazardous activity, which could cause injury or death. I will not enter and participate unless I am medically able and properly trained, and by my signature, I certify that I am medically able to perform this event, and am in good health, and I am properly trained. I agree to abide by any decision of a race official relative to any aspect of my participation in this event, including the right of any official to deny or suspend my participation for any reason whatsoever. I attest that I have read the rules of the race and agree to abide by them. I assume all risks associated with running in this event, including but not limited to: falls, contact with other participants, the effects of the weather, including high heat and/or humidity, traffic and the conditions of the trails, all such risks being known and appreciated by me. I understand that bicycles, skateboards, baby joggers, roller skates or roller blades, animals, and personal music players are not allowed in the race and I will abide by all race rules. Having read this waiver and knowing these facts and inconsideration of your accepting my entry, I, for myself and anyone entitled to act on my behalf, waive and release the RUN THE RITTER, the city of LAKEVILLE, RPO SELECT, LLC and the Road Runners Club of America, all event sponsors, their representatives and successors from all claims or liabilities of any kind arising out of my participation in this event, even though that liability may arise out of negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons named in this waiver. I grant permission to all of the foregoing to use my photographs, motion pictures, recordings or any other record of this event for any legitimate purpose. I understand that this event does not provide for refunds in the event of a cancellation, and by signing this waiver, I consent that I am not entitled to a refund if the event is cancelled before or during the event.
Canicross and leashed dog division additional waiver acceptance:
I acknowledge that in bringing my pet to participate in Run The Ritter events that I am doing so at my own risk. Any cost and expense and any harm that may come to the animal(s) shall be my sole responsibility; and in attending Run The Ritter with my pet should any injury occur to any person, other animal or property as a result of the behavior of my animal(s), whether expected or unexpected, regardless of stimulus for the behavior (pet's spontaneous conduct, conduct of another animal, conduct of any person or thing, or any combination therein) I will be solely liable and held responsible for any injury, or property damage that results from my participation (including attorney fees) and that neither I and any other person or entity with a legal claim on said animal: 1) will indemnify, hold harmless; 2) protect and defend the sponsors in any such claim resulting from said incident to said animal. Further, I and any other person or entity with a legal claim on said animal will further exempt City of Lakeville, Park and Recreation Department, RPO Select, LLC and Run The Ritter and its sponsors for any and all claims of damages and liability from injury, property damage, loss, claim or expense resulting from the behavior of my animal; and to report any and all such injuries or incidents to Run The Ritter and RPO Select, LLC.
I also certify or understand that
1. Dogs need to be in good health;
2. Aggressive dogs towards other dogs or a person will be asked to step away, if it happens again at any point, even during the run/walk, the dog will need to leave the event;
3. Dogs that attempt to bite another dog or person, need to immediately leave the public area and return to their vehicle. The dog will not be allowed to run in the event or return to the public area.
4. Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their dog in a proper way.
5. Dogs are not permitted in any enclosed buildings or enclosed shelters.
6. Dogs must be on a 3 foot or shorter leash prior to the start of the event (except to warm-up) and once done running or walking the event, the dog must be put on the short leash.
7. No special gear is required to run or walk, but all dogs must be on a leash or similar that is in total control of the owner.
