Flat and Fast Rural Hall 5K/10K

This is the 14th running of this event and as usual, all race proceeds benefit the Rural Hall Elementary School. Both the 5K & 10K are USA Track & Field certified with a gun start and chip timing for accurate results. The 10K starts at 8am with the 5K at 8:15am to allow couples or friends to arrive together and run the same or different races. Our 5K is perfect for younger runners, walkers wanting to support the school, families including jogging strollers, injured runners or as a recovery race after a tougher summer odeal due to it's totally FLAT 5K course!

Our 10K is a bit more challenging with three hills at the front end of the course, but still is relatively flat for this area and boasts some of the best 10K times that many of our runners have accomplished to date! This year will once again feature our Hanes Sport (TM) Cool Dri High Tech moisture wicking shirts rated 50UPF for UV ray protection!

Location: Mayflower Seafood Restaurant Parking Lot, 665 Montroyal Road, Rural Hall, NC 27045 or if you want to run at a different time and place, just register as a "virtual runner" and after you run your own 5K or 10K, post your time and photo on our facebook page! Your shirt and other runner bag goodies will be mailed to you!

Youth or Adult Registration: $25 thru Oct 20, then $30 to and including race day walk up

10K Race

$30 thru Oct 20, $35 to and including race day walk up registration (6:15am to 7:45am)

Pre-Registered Early Packet Pickup

Thursday, October 21 Noon thru 5:00PM or Friday, October 22 from 8:30AM to 5:00PM at Carolina Farm Credit, 340 Bethania-Rural Hall Road, Rural Hall, NC 27045.

On race day, runners pre-registered thru October 20 skip the line and grab a fast pre-packed packet in the "pre-registered" express tables inside the Mayflower. These may be moved outside for COVID safety as well as other changes as times warrant by race time!

165 TOTAL AWARDS for FOR THE FLAT & FAST RURAL HALL 5k-10k:12 TROPHIES: Top 3 male runners and 3 female runners for each race (5K & 10K)150 MEDALS: Olympic Style Gold, Silver, & Bronze to the top 3 male and top 3 female finishers in each race (5K & 10K) for the following age groups: 15-19,20-24,25-29,30-34,35-39,40-44,45-49,50-54,55-59,60-69, Masters 70+. ALSO: for the 5K only (under age 10, and age 10-14), and for the 10K only (under age 15).

3 CASH AWARDS COSTUME CONTEST: 5K only - (optional) halloween costume judging just before the race with cash prizes for the best costumes: $20, $30, & $50 for 3rd, 2nd, and First Place!

OTHER RUNNER BENEFITS:

Inside registration & restrooms with doughnuts and hot coffee or water depending on the weather. A fresh water bottle for every runner at the finish line and a fully stocked food tent with plenty of Krispy Kreme doughnuts, cookies, fresh fruit, gatoraide, and many more yummy treats! Cheerleaders and excitement to greet every runner at the finish line! Photo ops as we award more than half of our participants on average! Chip timing for online and finish line instant race results! Outside restrooms for social distancing or a quick break just before the race begins!

COVID-19: extra cleaning, social distancing, masks (pre and post race only), and other pre-cautions as appropriate for our location on race day will be followed!!! We will communicate details about these pre-cautions closer to race time. We strongly encourage all runners and volunteers to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 for everyone's safety at least three weeks before race day!
