The Y‘s mission is to promote youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Frederick Kid’s Triathlon was formed to provide a fun, safe and healthy event for children ages 6 to 15 in our community and surrounding communities in Maryland and nearby states. Our cause is to end childhood obesity and promote a healthy lifestyle for all children. We welcome all exercise/sport types from the very beginner to the competitive youth athlete.
The race takes place at Middletown High School in Middletown, Maryland. Located in Frederick County this event is just 50 miles west of Baltimore, 50 miles north of Washington DC, and 35 miles south of Gettysburg, PA. The course uses the school property, adjacent residential neighborhood and county park. No major roads are utilized. Traffic Control Personnel and Volunteers will be available at any intersection for the bike route segment.
New this year! OUR NEW START TIME - 4:00pm. To avoid confusion with other events at the park, we have changed our time to an afternoon race. We continue to offer a "New participant" Category for any age 6-15. This category is for those that have never competed or participated in a Triathlon event. We would like to introduce those new to the sport an opportunity to try their first race at a discount.

Swim – 50 yards
Bike – 1.5 miles
Run – .5 mile

Ages 11 to 12
Swim – 100 yards
Bike – 3 miles
Run – 1.5 miles

Ages 9 to 10:
Swim – 100 yards
Bike – 3 miles
Run – 1.0 mile

Ages 13 to 15
Swim – 150 yards
Bike – 4.5 miles
Run – 1.5 miles

Registration remains open on www.raceentry.com until 5/31/19 at 11:00pm. You may continue to register for the race at packet pick up at the downtown YMCA and on race day until 3:30pm at the race site.
Packet pick up is scheduled for Thursday, May 30, 2019 2:00pm-8:00pm, and Friday, May 31, 2019 from 9:00am-1:00pm Location: Downtown Y at 1000 North Market St., Frederick, MD 21701.
Packets can be picked up on race day starting at 2:00pm at the race site (Middletown High School).
Pre-race Bike and Run practice/clinic will be scheduled in May at Middletown High School. Date and Time - TBD. An email will be sent by April 15, 2019.

My 7 year old daughter loved it. As a triathlete myself, I noticed that this event was set up exactly like an adult triathlon. There were no differences because this one was for kids. Very well organized and staffed. Thank you.
