(race date estimated)Project Kenny Run for Hope Race Description
Project Kenny (projectkenny.org) is a non-profit, 501c3 that trains PTSD and Mobility Service dogs for veterans.
To save the world, we’ve been told to stay home, but it’s hard to keep moving and stay healthy in the wake of the Covid 19 pandemic. If you’re feeling cooped up, chances are your dog is too. With dogs in mind, Project Kenny created a virtual race to get both you and your dog exercise, while social distancing. You can participate from wherever you live, this is open nationwide. The best part is, all proceeds go toward service dog training to benefit veterans suffering from PTSD. In addition, funds will be used to help veterans with service dogs that need a little extra help with dog expenses during this difficult time.
Racers are encouraged to run with their dogs (you can still run even if you don't have a dog) and post pictures of their run with your distance/time onto the Project Kenny Facebook page. Shirts & dog bandannas will be mailed to you after the race completion date. Please enter your mailing address when you register. The official race date is April 30th, but you can run anytime between now and April 30th. Please be sure to follow social distancing guidelines!
Categories include a 1K, 5K & 7K distances. We encourage all ages and abilities to enter! No trophies/medals will be given, but Project Kenny will recognize the top 3 photo winners. You can complete your race and post your photos on the Project Kenny Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/projectkennyorg-1529575163814751/ anytime during the month of April.
Price is $35.00 for every distance. All additional donations will go directly to support veterans and service dogs.
